This series and the one after it are so GOOD! I read the other series first, then found out about this one. Luckily, it really doesn't matter which order you read the 2 in a they kind of intertwine. To the author, in case she reads her reviews, you need to do another book on Darius finding out what Vlad did (the first girl friend). I kept waiting for something to come up about that, but when the story (series?) ended without anything further about it, I assumed you were planning a 4th book for this series. Then, at the end, you didn't mention it, but I'd really like to see something about it. Vlad should NOT get away with that! For those wondering about these books, if you enjoy sci-fi, witches, vampires, shifters, etc, then you will LOVE these series's. Ms. Breene is a master story-teller, her craft is well honed. Her characters and scenes come to life right in front of your eyes (or at least at the front of your brain). Cheers!
An exciting end to a funny, fast-paced, action packed trilogy. The snark continues and, oh, how I love the snark that comes out of Reagan's mouth.“Seriously, would anyone notice if I burned all this to the ground? That is now an honest question.â€She is the bestie I didn't know I was missing! But I hear that there are going to be more books in this world, just focusing on other characters, so maybe we'll get to see her again. The rest of this review might be slightly spoiler-y if you haven't read the other two books - so please stop reading. Rest assured, I won't give this book away, it would be a crime.Reagan and camp are left to deal with the potential aftermath of the events of the last book: did she or didn't she fully kill off Agnon? If not, she's got a potential leak in the Dark Kingdom that she needs to plug, STAT, before news gets back to her father.Callie & Dizzy help as much as they can to confirm the rumor but Reagan is left with the decision of whether or not to go into the Dark Kingdom & finish what she started with Agnon or wait it out on the surface. She's the only one strong enough to cross the river, what's a girl to do?K.F. Breene pulled out all the stops on the third installment in the Fire & Ice trilogy. I sincerely hope we get to see Reagan & the gang in the offshoot books. Snark like that is too good to waste.
The book picks up soon after the second book, Reagan and Darius are happily secretly dating and Reagan’s training to increase her power, but all in her life is not as good as it seems. We soon discover that the demon Reagan thought she killed in book two survived and is spreading word within his sect that the heir has been found. She realizes she needs to find the demon and kill him before he can tell her father. If she waits, the demons will rise, bring the fight to her and many innocent lives will be lost. Her other choice is to go to the Underworld, find the demon and destroy him and any others that know of her existence. Reagan, being Reagan, of course chooses to go to the Underworld. Darius, being the awesome boyfriend that he is, goes to hell with her. Who wouldn't want a boyfriend willing to go to hell with them?I liked how the author described the Underworld, it was a very brutal and interesting place and I’d like to see more of it. I love how the relationship between Reagan and Darius progressed. A few times I wanted to kick her for dragging her feet in the relationship, but it just made Darius that more awesome. I really enjoyed this book, but all is not wrapped up, even though it's the end of the trilogy. There are still unresolved questions surrounding Reagan and her father. I'm hoping it will continue in the next books, which are Penny’s story. I enjoyed this book, I love the author's writing style and how she wrote Reagan. I liked it enough that I'm looking into the author’s other books. This trilogy is definitely a recommended read.
I'm giving 3 stars because the big question of the whole series is, can she hide her identity from the father who doesn't know she exists. The short answer is yes. Great, solved that problem, I guess I'll go on my merry way. If this series was teased as a 3 book arc to a larger adventure, then yeah it fits the bill, but as a stand alone series it falls flat. The heroine doesn't even see the danger she's been dreading, but for a few fleeting seconds from a far distance, never being confronted nor confronting it. Where is the cathartic ending that ties all the loose ends up? No where, you're just going to have to read the next 3 book arc about some other characters and hope this storyline comes back around.
So, Agnon survived, and he's gone into the Dark Kingdom (or hell) to heal and find demons to help him wrangle Reagan. His hope is still to capture her, and train her before presenting her to her father. There is A LOT of action in Fused in Fire. A really lot of action. Lots of magic being thrown around, and lots of opportunity for Reagan to learn. And since they have to travel to the Dark Kingdom, and there's no way Darius would let Reagan go alone, they have to do something very drastic in order for him to be able to even get in the door. I was only slightly disappointed, because we didn't see much of Lucifer. Not as much as I was hoping for. For some reason, I'm obsessed with seeing him and Reagan interact. Since this is a whole new world, and I have heard whispers about more stories being told in this new world, maybe my Father/Daughter meeting dreams will come true some day. One can hope. Even still, I enjoyed all of the action, and Reagan's kicking all the a**. Great end to this part of the story.
